The Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) is a pubic institution established in 1927 to train heath professionals to work in Kenya and outside the country’s borders. The institution, which remains the most preferred college in Kenya for nursing students, is ranked among the best medical training institutions in the East and Central Africa region. About 70 certificate, diploma, higher diploma, and short courses are offered at KMTC and more than 8,000 medical professionals graduate every year.

Clinical Medicine
This is one of the most sought after course at KMTC. A diploma in Clinical Medicine takes 3 years and is offered at the Kilifi campus and the approximate annual fee for this course is Kshs. 55,600. The minimum entry requirements are; a mean grade of C plain, with C in English/ Kiswahili and Biology/Chemistry and C- in Mathematics/Physics.
Pharmacy
Diploma in Pharmacy takes three years period which is structured as follows; 2 years in class for coursework, 7 months attachment in hospitals or related field and 2 months for preparing for examinations. The course is offered at Nairobi, Nakuru, Mombasa, Kisumu, Nyeri and Manz campuses. The minimum entry requirements are; a mean grade of C plain, with C in English/ Kiswahili and Biology/Chemistry and C- in Mathematics/Physics or any other equivalent qualification.
Dental Technology
The 3 months diploma course is offered at the Nairobi campus. The minimum entry requirements are; a mean grade of C plain, with C in English/ Kiswahili and Biology/Chemistry and C in Mathematics/Physics, metalwork, or general science.
Health records and IT
This course is offered on full-time basis and takes 2 years and 3 years to complete for certificate and diploma respectively. It is offered in Murang’a, Nairobi, Kitui, Msambweni, Bondo, Siaya and Webuye campuses.
Nursing

Orthopedic trauma and medicine
This course is designed to prepare health professionals who assess, design, fabricate and fit orthopedic appliances and use them to manage deformities, fractures, and injuries to the soft tissues. The minimum entry requirements for a diploma are; a mean grade of C plain, with C in English/ Kiswahili and Biology/Chemistry and C in Mathematics/Physics, metalwork, or woodwork.
Nutrition
The certificate course is offered at Lodwar, Homa Bay, Thika, Kabarnet, Karen, Nairobi, Nyandarua and Nakuru campus requires one to have a mean grade of C- and above as well as at least D+ in the cluster subjects. The diploma requires at least a mean grade of and C- in the cluster subjects. Intakes for this course are done in March and September.
Environmental Health Sciences
A basic 3 years diploma course in Environmental Health Sciences requires a mean grade of C and above with at least C in languages and science cluster subjects. It is offered in Nairobi, Nyeri, Msambweni, Kisumu, Embu, Nakuru, Machakos, Kabarnet, Kakamega and Kitui campuses and takes three years.
Community Oral Health
This diploma course is offered at the Nairobi, Lodwar and Karen campuses and takes three years to complete. The minimum entry requirements are; a mean grade of C plain, with at least C- in English/ Kiswahili or credit and Biology/Chemistry and C- in Mathematics/Physics or General Science.
Medical Imaging
The minimum entry requirements for diploma are; a mean grade of C plain, with at least C in English/ Kiswahili, Physics/Physical Science and Biology/Biological Sciences and C- in Mathematics/Chemistry.
