KMTC Lodwar Campus Background Information & Location

Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) – Lodwar campus is one of the 71 constituent campuses of KMTC. The campus is located 200 meters east of Lodwar County Teaching and Referral Hospital on the Kakuma- Lokichoggio road in Turkana County, Kenya. It is adjacent to the Lodwar Youth Polytechnic and on the leeward side of the Lodwar High School hill.

KMTC Lodwar Campus Facilities

The facilities available at KMTC Lodwar Campus are:

• A hostel block with a student capacity of 300 to give the students an on-campus accommodation.
• Skills labs equipped with life-like models to provide the students with an opportunity to freely master nursing and medical skills before visiting clinical areas to deal with real patients.
• Presence of competent tutors, skills lab assistants and student facilitators who are readily available for special training needs.
• Staff quarters that are located near the campus so as to take care of the students’ learning needs

KMTC Lodwar Campus Clinical Experience sites

The main clinical experience site used by students at KMTC Lodwar Campus is the Lodwar County Teaching and Referral Hospital that is situated right next to the campus. Here, the students get the much needed clinical exposure using the top-of-the-art equipment and other facilities available in this hospital. Students get attached to Katilu, Lokichar, AIC Lokichoggio, Kitale, Gilgil, Nakuru, Bungoma, Eldoret and other health centers for clinical experience. Health facilities in Lodwar town and its environs are also used.

KMTC Lodwar Campus Clubs, societies and sports

The sporting activities available at KMTC Lodwar Campus include athletics, badminton, volleyball, netball, football, darts, rugby, chess, scrabble and table tennis.

The institution also has a number of clubs such as the Presidential Award club, Music club, Drama club and Christian Union.
