The giant telecommunication company in Kenya-Safaricom has introduced a new feature called Reverse Call. The new feature enables customer with insufficient airtime to make calls by transferring the cost of a call to the receiver by adding ‘#’ before the number they are calling.
How Safaricom’s Reverse call feature works
- If for instance a caller wants to transfer the cost of the call to 0722000000, then he or she will dial #0722000000
- A customer receiving a reverse call request will see the caller’s details appear on the screen as normal, but once they pick the call, they will receive a voice prompt asking them to key in “1” to accept the reverse call. The recipient can acknowledge or decline.
- The cost of the call will be equivalent to the receiver’s normal call cost.
However, it should be noted that the option is only available for on-net calls, so don’t expect it work you are making a call to other networks.
In addition, the service cannot be used for roaming users or for making international calls.
