TSC to Review 2021-2022 Non-Monetary CBA

Teachers Service Commission, TSC, has invited teachers union to review non-monetary 2021-2025 CBA.

In circular sent to Kenya Union of Post Primary Education Teachers’, KUPPET, the meeting is slated for 22nd day of this month.

“The purpose of this letter is to invite you to a meeting with the Teachers Service
Commission scheduled for Tuesday, 22nd August, 2023 at 9:00 am for the above purpose”, stated part of the circular.

The circular further indicates that “the Meeting will take Place at the Kenya School of Government (KSG), Lower Kabete, Nairobi.”

2021-2025 CBA

  • In July 2021, Teachers Service Commission, TSC, signed a Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) with Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT), Kenya Union of Post Primary Education Teachers (KUPPET) and Kenya Union of Special Needs Education Teachers (KusNET).

Consequently, the CBAs were registered   by the Employment  and Labour  Relations  Court on 27th August, 2021 as required under Section 60 of the Labour Relations Act.

Promotions

Promotions of Teachers shall be in accordance with the Career Progression Guidelines in force however teachers serving in ASAL and hard to staff areas and are holding administrative positions in an acting capacity shall be promoted progressively until they obtain grades commensurate to their respective positions.

Leaves

Application for different categories of leave shall be considered and approved strictly in accordance with Part X of the CORT. However, the Commission shall grant:

  1. Maternity Leave of One hundred and twenty ( 120) Calendar days with full pay with effect from date of delivery.
  2. Pre-adoptive Leave of Forty-five (45) Calendar days with full pay with effect from the date of adoption.
  3. Paternity Leave of Twenty One (21) calendar days with full pay once a year.
