Fresh details have emerged that teachers applying for vacancies in Junior Secondary Schools will not be posted to schools of their choice.
After keen look at online application process, prospective employees are only allowed to choose their teaching combination in a specific county. This simply means that TSC will have the final say pertaining the school a teacher will be posted.
In a statement on Friday, the teachers’ employer noted that 10,000 of the teachers will be employed on permanent pensionable terms while 25,550 will be intern teachers.
It said 9,000 of the slots are for permanent secondary school teachers and 1,000 for primary school teachers while 21,550 slots are for intern teachers for Junior secondary schools.
The Commission said another 4000 intern teachers will be hired for primary schools.
TSC previously indicated that the country faced a severe teacher deficiency in primary and secondary schools with the shortage standing at 114,581 teachers.
The good thing is that teachers currently serving as teacher interns need not apply, the Commission shall directly recruit them and post them to Junior Secondary Schools.
The names of interviewed applicants ranked in order of performance in the selection process for each vacancy shall be submitted to the Commission by the TSC County Director together with successful applicants‘ recruitment documents.
