Teachers Service Commission, TSC, has announced plans to employ 5,000 teaching vacancies to plug shortage in secondary schools owing to 100 percent transition.
The announcement comes after the commission was allocated Ksh. 2.5 billion for enrolment of teachers.
“The National Treasury has allocated TSC Sh2.5 billion for the recruitment of 5,000 teachers to ease the teachers load in handling the increased enrolment. The qualified unemployed teachers to look out for advertisement for application next month,” said TSC in a statement.
This move will be a sigh of relief owing to the fact that teaching force in secondary school is highly overstretched following the 100 percent transition policy.
Qualified and unemployed teachers who are registered by the commission have been asked to stay alert and watch out for advertisement in the coming month of July.
Employment of five thousand teachers on permanent and pensionable terms, will bring to a total of 11,000 teachers the commission is seeking to employ this year. Some 6,000 intern teachers will also be recruited at a cost of Sh1.2 billion in the 2021/2022 financial year.
