Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has re-advertised 14,742 promotion vacancies for teachers who have stayed in the same job group.
Re-advertisement comes barely a week after the vacancies were cancelled last week. Teachers Service Commission (TSC) issued a new call for applicants.
Teachers’ unions and other educators defended the previous advertisement, claiming that it was discriminatory and did not hire teachers who had been on the job for a long time.
According to the advertisement primary schools will receive the lion’s share of promotions.
A total of 13,713 vacancies have been announced, with 3,210 going to secondary schools and 10,507 going to primary schools.
According to Akello Misori, Secretary General of the Kenya Union of Post-Primary Education Teachers (KUPPET), all teachers who have served in various capacities as senior teachers, Deputy Principals, and Principals will be automatically promoted.

The Teachers Service Commission, TSC, has advertised 14,738 promotions vacancies for teachers in both secondary and primary schools.
TSC PROMOTION JOB VACANCIES
The Teachers Service Commission is a Constitutional Commission established under article 237 of the Constitution. One of its mandate is to appoint and deploy institutional administrators.
Pursuant to this mandate, the Commission invites applications from suitably qualified teachers for the posts shown below in line with the Teachers Career Progression Guidelines.
Interested candidates, who meet the required qualifications, should submit their applications online through the TSC portal – www.teachersonline.go.ke.
The re-advertised vacancies for promotion include schools from primary level all up-to the Teacher training colleges.
