Student Who Scored 385 Marks KCPE 2021 Repeats Class 8 Over Lack of Fees

Alila John Mark who scored 385 marks in the 2021 Kenya Certificate of Primary Education, KCPE, has gone back to repeat in class 8 at Belteza Primary School in Sori Karungu, Migori County

According to the reports by the Kenya Broadcasting Corporation Alila did not only score impressive marks, but also topped his class.

Alila who secured form one admission place in Mbita High School failed to report after efforts to raise his school fees bore no fruits.

Yesterday Alila went back to his former school and requested the headteacher to allow him to repeat Class Eight. “It feels sad for me to watch others with boxes going to high school while I am here repeating a class,” he said. Alila’s family explained that the boy settled on the decision after efforts to secure sponsorship for his education failed.

Teachers from the school are fearing that Alila’s move to repeat will dash hopes of many pupils since he was the best in his class.

The teacher explained that the happenings make them get the feeling that there is no reward for hard work, which could potentially affect their performance.
