This school was started in 1966 through the efforts of the Catholic Church for the local girls to get secondary education. The church felt that while boys had many schools in which to join form one classes, the girls also needed a place to further their education. The local community also joined hands with the church and so the school was born. Mawego Girls is located in Rachuonyo North East Division in Rachuonyo North District. The school is a provincial Girls Boarding Secondary with a capacity for 3 streams and has a total of 360 students. It could be accessed from Sondu-kisii road.
