Kenya Adds 62 New Covid-19 Cases as 3 more recover; Tally Now at 1,348

In the last 24 hours the number of confirmed Covid-19 cases have risen to 1,348 after 62 new cases were recorded today.

Speaking during the daily Covid-19 briefing at Afya House, Dr. Rashid Aman who is Ministry of Health CAS stated that 2,293 samples had been tested during the period bringing the total samples tested in the country to 64,264.

Of the 62 new cases, 59 were Kenyans and three are foreign nationals. They are aged between six(6) and 64 years.

The cases are distributed in various counties across the country namely; Nairobi (23), Mombasa (16), Kwale (8), Kiambu (6), Kajiado (6), and Kitui (3).

In Nairobi, the cases were recorded in Umoja (6), Kibra (6), Eastleigh (3), Dagoretti North (2), Lang’ata (2), Westlands (2), Starehe (1), Embakasi East (1).

Mombasa’s coronavirus cases were confirmed in Changamwe (9), Jomvu (3), Nyali (3), Mvita (1) while in Kwale; Msambweni (4), Lungalunga (4), and Kiambu; Lari (5), Ruiru (1).

Kitui’s cases were all from Miambani and Kajiado’s infections recorded in Kajiado Central sub-location.

Recoveries and Deaths

Dr. Aman further announced that 3 more people had been discharged after recovering, bringing the total recoveries to 405.

The CAS also noted that no person has succumbed to the virus and this means that the number of fatalities in the country remains at 52.

Aman further reiterated the importance of giving correct information to aid contact tracing. In addition he noted that the government will cater for cost of testing and quarantine.

“We have noted a disturbing behavior of persons giving false contacts. It is important to give the right information as it is only through this that contact tracing is possible.

“Government will cater for the cost of testing and quarantine. Kenyans should not fear coming forth to be tested for coronavirus,” stated the CAS.
