Kenya: 123 Test Positive for Covid-19 Pushing Total Tally to 1,471

Kenya has today recorded the highest number of Covid-19 cases since that first case was confirmed in the country, says Health CS Mutahi Kagwe.

The CS announced that 123 new covid-19 cases have been confirmed in the last 24 hours bringing total tally in the country to 1,471.

Mr. Mutahi also indicated the covid-19 cases are spread out in 35 hospitals across the country.

“Covid-19 patients are spread out in 35 various hospitals across the country. Seven(7) patients are in critical condition, four(4) on ventilator support and 3 are on supplemental oxygen,” stated the

Speaking during the daily Covid-19 briefing at Afya House, kagwe noted that 3,077 samples had been tested during the period bringing the total samples tested in the country to 67,341.

Of the 123 new cases, Nairobi contributed highest number of the infections at 85 followed by Mombasa which registered 24 cases and Kiambu at 4.

In Nairobi County, Mathare reported (33) cases, Kibra (14), Embakasi West (12), Embakasi central (4)followed by others.

Recoveries and Fatalities

The CS also noted that 3 patients have succumbed to the virus bringing the number of fatalities in the country remains at 55.

Two of the three deceased persons were suffering from diabetes while the other was battling breast cancer.

Total recoveries as at today stand at 405.
