The Current CBA was signed between the commission and union of teachers. It will be implemented in four phases from 1st July 2017 to 30th June 2021. The second phase will start from 1st July 2018 to 30th June 2019.
Its important to note that special school allowance cease to be payable starting from 1st July, 2018.
House of allowance of teachers during second phase of implementation of CBA 2018/2019
The table below show house allowances for teachers in different grades. Allowances paid to teachers doesn’t only depend on the grade a tutor is but also area.
For example a teacher in Nairobi and in grade D5 will enjoy a house allowance of Kshs50,000 while a teacher in the same grade working in towns like Nyeri, Eldoret, Kericho, Kakamega, Nanyuki, Nakuru, Lodwar and Garissa will pocket a house allowance of Kshs25,000.
Hardship allowance, Commuter allowance and Annual leave allowance during second phase of implementation of CBA 2018/2019
The lowest grade-B5 will be entitled to a hardship allowance of Kshs6,600 commuter allowance of kshs4,000 and an annual leave allowance of 4,000.
The highest grade-D5 will enjoy hardship allowance of Kshs38100, commuter allowance of Kshs16,000 and an annual leave allowance of Kshs10,000.
