This is a girls only public national boarding secondary school located in Lamu, Kenya. The school was started in the year 1974 by the community. Its main aim back then was to enable girls in the area to access secondary education. This happened because at that time, there was no secondary school in Amu island offering secondary education to the girlchild. It first started as Harambee Secondary School. The first leader of the school was Rev. Fr. Baldacchino. Over the years, the community has been so supportive in helping build the school to where they desire it to be. The students are willing to learn and so they keep motivating their work. Apart from its good performance in both local and national examinations, the school has also shown exemplary performance in music performance.

Lamu Girls High School KCSE performance;
The school prides itself of being among the leading schools in the region. Over the years, the school has been producing excellent results, sending majority of the students to universities via direct entry. For instance, the school produced the best student in Lamu county in 2017’s KCSE results with a mean score of B+. The school also became the best in Lamu county in 2016’s KCSE results with a mean score of 5.34.

Here, form one selection is usually done via academic merit in regards to KCPE examinations. The students who have high results and selected the school as the first choice are given higher priority than others.
