Gusii Mwalimu sacco office has been closed indefinitely for going against government directive of social distancing.
Members of the sacco have been flooding the office this week so as to receive their dividends for the year 2019. Oblivious of the impending danger, they have been seen flouting the government directive of keeping social distance.
“Due to the outbreak of (Covid-19) corona virus in the Country, it has come to the attention of the public health office that the SACCO shareholders are congregating with full disregard of the Presidential directive and MOH (Ministry of Health) advisory against the same,” says Hezron Omayio who is the Public Health officer in Kisii county.
The move taken by the Kisii County’s Department of Health and Sanitation to close the office comes barely few hours after the Health CS Mutahi Kagwe confirmed 14 more covid-19 cases in the country bringing the total number of cases to 172.
Among the 14 confirmed cases, the CS said one case is from Kisii county. Other counties that were affected include; Nairobi (7), Mombasa (2) Machakos (1) Kiambu (1) and Mandera (2).
