Gov’t Extends Half Term break to Primary Schools

Ministry of education has clarified that the mid-term break announced yesterday applies to primary and secondary schools. This is after the teachers in primary schools felt sidelined.

In a circular dated 1st November 2021, basic education permanent secretary stated clearly that only students in secondary schools were to break for half term break.

“It has been decided that the half term break will commence on Friday, 19th November, 2021. The students will report back on Tuesday 23rd November, 2021″, said Julius O. Jwan who is basic education permanent secretary.

According to the circular that has been seen by Jambo News, the ministry of education has now included primary schools. While clarifying the circular that was released on 1st November under the subject ‘midterm break for secondary schools’, basic education permanent Secretary, Julis Jwan, said that primary schools will also break for half term.

He said: “The midterm break applies to all secondary and primary schools”.

Learners will report back on Tuesday 23rd November, 2021. They will stay in school for four more weeks up to 23rd December, 2021. Thereafter they will break for an end year holiday that will only last for ten days.
