Paid internships in Kenya are hard to come by. But if luck falls on your side and you secure an internship in a company or a firm that can give you a monthly salary then you be the happiest. In a bid to make it easy for you to know where you can easily be paid while in internship I’ve compiled a list of companies/firms paying interns:
1. Telecommunication companies like Safaricom, Telkom and Airtel
These companies take interns annually and they handsomely pay them. If you are lucky enough to secure an opportunity you won’t regret.
2. Media Companies
If you secure an opportunity with some of the leading media companies as an intern you will be smiling all the way yo back every month
For example, Radio Africa, which owns Kiss TV, Classic 105, Kiss FM and The Star, is one of the best media companies to work for. The company recruits interns from time to time and they pay them at least Ksh35,000 per month.
3. Government institutions
Institutions like NHIF, KRA, HELB, Kenya Power, Kenya Airways,, NSSF and pay interns handsomely.
4. Insurance firms
If you secure internship with firms like AMACO, UAP, Britam, CFC Life, Madison, APA, Kenindia Assurance Company, ICEA Lion, Jubilee, Old Mutual, and Kenya Orient you will be assured salary at the end of each month.
5. Non Government organisation and Nonprofit organization
Organization like Red Cross, Care Kenya, IPA, One Acre Fund, Trademark EA and Oxfam make their interns comfortable with a monthly salary.
6. Audit and accounting firms
Such as Pricewaterhouse Cooper (PWC) which sometimes employs interns. As an intern, you’ll earn Ksh 45,000-Ksh 60,000.
7. Research firms
Statistics graduates can find internships at research firms like Synovate, Infotrak and Consumer Insight. If you secure an internship in one these firms you will be assured of a salary at the end of each month.
