CHAMPS EGYPT MAUL RWANDA TO DEFEND THEIR AFRICA VOLLEYBALL U-20 WOMEN’S TITLE

Defending champions Egypt stunned Rwanda by easily overcoming them in a three straight sets win at a pulsating Women’s Under 20 Africa Nations Championship final; staged at the Moi sports Centre, Kasarani today.

Buoyed by their easy win over Nigeria at the semis yesterday, Egypt stretched their impressive run by overcoming Rwanda 25-18, 25-10 and 25-13 in straight sets win to clinch gold.

Rwanda had to settle for Silver but will be going home elated after booking qualification to the World Championship.

Earlier on, Mauritius defeated Tanzania by three straight sets to finish seventh.

Hosts, Kenya, finished a distant 5th after overcoming Republic of Democratic Congo(RDC) 3 sets to 1 in the 5th playoff match. While, Cameroon clinched bronze by overpowering Nigeria in 3 to 1 set victory.

Both Egypt and Rwanda will now represent Africa at the 2018 World Women’s under 20 championship.
