22 more covid-19 cases Confirmed, 3 more recoveries as 1 dies; tally now at 1,214

Kenya’s confirmed coronavirus cases have risen to 1,214 after 22 more people tested positive, Health Chief Administrative Secretary (CAS) Dr. Rashid Aman announced today.

17 of the 22 who tested positive were male while 5 were female. The age range is 24- 73 years.

Speaking during the daily Covid-19 briefing at Afya House, the CAS stated that 1,108 samples had been tested during the period bringing the total samples tested in the country to 59,260.

The cases distribution is; Nairobi 10, Mombasa 9 Kwale ( 1)Nakuru (1) Taita Taveta(1).

In Mombasa the new cases were reported from Mvita (5), Changamwe (1), Jomvu (1), Likoni (1) and Nyali (1).

Kwale has one case from Lungalunga while Nakuru West and Taveta have one case each.

Recoveries and Deaths

The CAS announced that 3 more people had been discharged after recovering, bringing the total recoveries to 303.

Unfortunately, Dr. Aman noted that one more patient succumbed to the virus, taking the total fatalities to 51. The deceased is a 48-year-old male patient from Mathare, Nairobi county.

Lockdown

Aman further indicated that dusk-to-down measures will not go on longer if Kenyans will follow government guidelines aimed at containing the virus.

“The partial lock-down measures will not go on longer than necessary and will be reviewed if Kenyans follow the containment measures that will reduce the number of infections and flatten our curve.

“For those who will be positive together with their contacts, I want to remind and reassure the people of Kenya that the government shall meet the cost of treatment and quarantine”  noted CAS Aman
