It is now clear that Parents want the controversial junior secondary to be domiciled in primary school.
According to Jasper Omwega who is a representative of the National Parents Association Nairobi branch said that grade 7 learners will not be comfortable with secondary school students.
Speaking during the public participation at the University of Nairobi, Omwega noted that it will be difficult for 11-year-old learner to cope in the same environment with a 18-year-old student.
“As parents, we are not comfortable with our 11-year-old learners being in the same environment with 17 or 18-year-olds,” Omwega said.
He further faulted the government for not engaging parents prior to the rollout of the competence based curriculum.
Omwega urged that the government caters for assessment-related expenses.
“We end up paying for photocopying and downloading all assessments,” he said.
