MOE 2023 School Calendar, Term Dates

The Ministry of Education has released 2023 Calendar of events for basic learning institutions.

In the new calendar, normalcy has resumed with the first term kicking off in the 23rd Day of January 2023. This is a sigh of relief bearing in mind how strenuous the last three academic years have been owing to ripple effects occasioned by the Covid 19 pandemic.

“As you are aware, the school calendar was disrupted due to COVIO.19 pandemic. However, the calendar will revert back normally in January, 2023”, read a statement from Ministry of Education.

School Term Dates for Term 1, 2023

Term 1 runs for 13 weeks, from January 23, 2023, to April 21, 2023. The first term contains a two-week break from April 22 to May 7.

2023 Learners will go for half term break for term 1 from March 23rd to March 26th, for 3 days.

School Term Dates for Term 2

Term 2 lasts 13 weeks and begins on May 8 and ends on August 11 of 2023. Following that, students will take a two-week break from August 12 to August 27, 2023.

The second term’s three-day midterm break will begin on June 29 and last through July 2.

School Term Dates for Term 3

The third term will run from August 28 through November 3, 2023. There will be a 10-week semester. There isn’t a midterm break during this term.

Exams for the KCPE will begin on November 6 and end on November 9, while exams for the KCSE will begin on November 10 and end on December 1 of that same year.
