This is a national girls boarding secondary school located in Limuru constituency, Kiambu county, Kenya. The school was founded in 1936 by the Sisters of Loreto who had come to Kenya from Ireland in 1921 as Catholic Missionaries to improve the educational opportunity for girls in the area.

Original school vision; To educate African girls who at that time were denied a right to an academic education.

School motto; United in love and peace with good education.

The school had its first secondary class in 1947 with its first 2 students who passed the Cambridge Certificate Education, spearholding the now good name behind the school’s academic excellence. The school became categorized as a national school in 1958.

Notable alumni include Wangari Maathai, who won the Nobel peace prize, Carole Wainaina who is the United Nations Official, Martha Mbugua, who is a lawyer, Wanjiku Kabira who is an author and Ng’endo Mwangi, who was the first female physician in Kenya.

Loreto High School Limuru KCSE performance;

The school is known for doing so well in both local and national examinations. In 2007, the school had a mean score of over 10 points, being the 3rd best school in Kenya and the best girls school in the country in that year. This has by far been its best performance yet. In 2010, the school had a mean score of 10.062 and a mean score of 10.113 (with 28 As,50 A-s and 150 out of 177 got direct entry to public universities) in 2011. The school had a mean score of 10.489 (B+) in 2012, 10.32 (B+) in 2013, 10.04 (B+) in 2014 and 10.344 (B+) in 2015.
