KMTC Busia Campus Background Information & Location

Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC)- Busia Campus is a constituent campus of KMTC located in Busia county. It sits on a 4.5 acre piece of land next to the Busia County Referral Hospital in Busia Town, Matayos Constituency, Busia county, about 500 meters from the Kenya- Uganda border post.

The idea of establishing the KMTC Campus in Busia was born in 2003 by the then Vice President Moody Awori. The idea was then supported by the KMTC Board of Directors after which the site was officially commissioned by his excellency President Mwai Kibaki in 2005. Sospeter Ojamong’, the then governor of Busia County laid the foundation stone for the construction of the campus on 9^th October, 2014. By July 2016, the first phase of the construction was done. The first group of students for the Diploma in Clinical Medicine course was admitted in 15^th November, 2016. It was not until April 2017 that the first group of nursing students was admitted. KMTC Busia Campus currently has a total student population of 397.

-Certificate in Community Health Nursing

-Upgrading course in Orthopaedic Trauma Medicine.
