Gov’t Makes Crucial Changes In Term 2023 Term Dates

Government has rescheduled term two half term dates. In response to the request made by Chairman, Kenya Secondary Schools Heads Association, the ministry of education has pushed ahead half term break to allow heads of secondary schools to hold their annual meeting.

“Consequently, the midterm dates for second term year 2023 has been rescheduled to start from 27th June to 1st July 2023,” read a statement from ministry of education.

“Reference is made to a letter Ref. KESSIIA/NATCONFP/3/VOL.1/23 dated 26h March2023 from the National Chairman, Kenya Secondary Schools Heads Association on the above subject. The letter notes that the current schcduled dates for midterm of second term coincides with the dates of KESSHA 46th Annual national conference,” read part of statement from ministry of education.

The Ministry recognize that the National KESSHA Conference is an important eventthat allows school managers to make a review and share experiences in running of schools.

School Term Dates for Term 2

Term 2 lasts 13 weeks and begins on May 8 and ends on August 11 of 2023. Following that, students will take a two-week break from August 12 to August 27, 2023.

The second term’s three-day midterm break was earlier on slated to begin on June 29 and last through July 2.

School Term Dates for Term 3

The third term will run from August 28 through November 3, 2023. There will be a 10-week semester. There isn’t a midterm break during this term.

Exams for the KCPE will begin on November 6 and end on November 9, while exams for the KCSE will begin on November 10 and end on December 1 of that same year.
