On Monday, December 18, Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu disclosed the outcomes of the Form One placement, emphasizing the fairness of the process and the majority of candidates securing their preferred schools. Notably, all 1.4 million candidates who took the 2023 Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) were successfully assigned to schools.
For those seeking Form One admission results, the Ministry of Education provides access through its portal at education.go.ke or kemis.education.go.ke. Interested individuals can follow specific steps outlined on the websites to retrieve the placement information.
Machogu highlighted that some students were placed in schools of similar standing outside their counties, particularly those from regions with insufficient capacity. He assured the public of the accuracy of the website, having undergone thorough testing and verification.
Schools, on the other hand, can retrieve their compiled lists of placed students on the National Education Management Information System (NEMIS). The CS specified that candidates scoring over 400 marks in the KCPE were allocated spots in national and extra-county schools of their preference.
Additionally, Machogu urged Regional Directors of Education and County Education Directors to ensure that secondary school principals adhere to the stipulated limits for levies, preventing unauthorized fees. According to him, the County Education Board (CEB) lacks the authority to approve fees beyond the prescribed limits.
In a previous announcement, CS Machogu committed to completing the placement process within two weeks before Christmas. The placement procedure commenced on November 27, with a pledge from the CS to ensure fairness for all candidates.
