Babu Owino Makes ‘Special Appeal’ To President Uhuru Over Payment of Private School Teachers

Embakasi East Member of parliament Paul Ongili Owino alias Babu Owino has come to the rescue of Private school teachers who have gone through untold pain since the time Covid-19 pandemic was reported in the country.

The aforementioned teachers have gone unpaid for several months since the corona virus pandemic took its toll on education sector.

Schools were closed in mid March this year and since then Private school teachers have been forced to engage in blue collar jobs in a bid to make ends to meet.

Good news is that Babu Owino has made a special appeal to President Uhuru Kenyatta to set aside some of the Covid funds to cushion teachers who have been hit hard by the devastating effects of the pandemic.

The youthful MP while exuding confidence has urged the head of state to take into consideration plights of this group ahead of his address to the nation.

“I therefore appeal to H. E President Kenyatta to take their plight into consideration ahead of his next address to the nation. I suggest that some of the Covid funds be set aside to support these teachers during this period of furlough because we will need them to cater for our children when it becomes safe to reopen.

“I am confident the President in his wisdom will make provision for these important participants in our society,” stated Babu Owino.

BoM Teachers

Another group of teachers that has been affected adversely is BoM. Most of them have been living on mercies of well wishers.

Earlier this week, the Education CAS Zackary Kinuthia assured them that some good plans to see them being paid are in the pipeline.

Mr. Kinuthia noted that other staff employed by the Board of Management(cooks, matrons and even watchmen) will benefit from the government in the near future.

“As government, we have heard their cries. I want to assure them something will be done.

“We expect whatever the Government will do on this matter, the BoM will consider not just the BoM teachers but also the rest of the BoM staff such as cooks, matrons and even watchmen,” stated Kinuthia.
