Teachers can now breathe sigh of relief after Teachers Service Commission(TSC) extended the online profile update for four more days. Initially, the deadline was scheduled to lapse on 30th November, 2021.
All registered teachers have up to 4th December To update their profile.
According to highly placed sources, by close of business 30th November, most teachers had not updated their profiles. The source further reveals that most of the affected teachers are the ECDE, BOM, unemployed and those in private schools.
Earlier on, confusion had marred the TSC profile updating exercise. It was not clear whether teachers who are not employed by the commission were required to update their profiles.
However, it was later discovered that the exercise was targeting all teachers who are registered by the commission.
Before one starts the profile updating exercise, it is important to ensure that all academic certificates including transcripts have been scanned. For transcripts, they should be scanned and save as one document.

TSC boss Dr. Macharia clarified that the updating of teachers’ profiles is a separate exercise from the biometric registration of teachers which will only target all tutors under its payroll.
She said: “This is a separate exercise from biometrics which was successfully piloted and will be launched at the national level in March next year. We will merge the two in the end,”.
She further clarified that the biometric registration is about getting the bio-data of the teachers, for example TSC will know if the teacher has gone back to school to get additional education.
