TSC and BOM checklist for prospective employee 2019

Recruitment of tutors by Teachers Service Commission (TSC) is one of the most transparent exercise.

First of all, the commission advertises for available teaching vacancies in its website www.tsc.go.ke. Trained teachers who meet minimum qualifications and requirements are then expected to apply to schools within given timeline.

Prospective tsc employees are then invited for an interview. The selection panel usually involves seven (7) members:

  •  Chairman, Board of Management- Chairman
  • Two (2) members of the Board- Members
  • Head of Institution- Secretary
  •  Deputy Head of Institution- Member
  • Subject Specialist- Member
  •  The TSC County Direcior/representative- Member.

For schools without BOM, the selection panel will involve the following;

  • TSC County Director- Chairman
  •  Head of Institution- Secretary
  • Deputy Head of Institution- Member
  • Subject Specialist- Member
  •  TSC Sub County Director- Member
  • TSC Human Resource Officer- Member
  • PA Chairman- Member

Once the selection exercise is completed, the most qualified candidate is offered a job. In case of a tie, several parameters are used to identify the best candidate. Among them include:

  • Whether the candidate has a dully filled and signed Teacher Performance and Performance Development (TPAD) form.
  • Mean grade scored at Kenya Certificate of Secondary School (KCSE).
  • Grades scored in the two teaching subjects.

BOARD OF MANAGEMENT CHECK LIST FOR TSC RECRUITMENT

The successful applicants will be required to submit the following to the Secretary, Board of Management:

  1. Duly signed application for employment letter
  2. Duly signed commitment letter to serve in the school for a minimum period of five (5) years and three (3) years in the case of North Eastern region
  3. Original and certified copies of the following
  • National Identity card (both sides)
  • 2 passport size photographs
  • Certificates and testimonials KCPE/CPE, ‘O’ Level (KCSE), ‘A’ LEVEL, Degree, Diploma/SI.
  • Official Academic transcripts
  • Teacher Registration certificate/evidence of application for registration.
  • KRA PIN certificate
  • Bank Plate
  • Duly filled pay point particulars form
  • NHIF card
  • Primary and secondary school leaving certificates
  • Acknowledgement of receipt of application for employment

NB: The Principal/Secretary Board of Management is expected to verify and certify all the above documents.

TSC CHECK LIST FOR RECRUITMENT 2019

The Secretary, Board of Management is required to submit the following to the TSC Sub – County Director:

  1. Minutes of the selection panel duly signed
  2. Completed selection score guide duly signed
  3. Duly signed commitment letter to serve in the school for a minimum period of five (5) years and three (3) years in the case of North Eastern region.
  4. Certified copies of the following:
  • National ldentity card (both sides)
  • passport size photographs
  • Certificates and testimonials – KCPE/CPE, ‘O Level (KCSE), ‘A’ LEVEL, Degree, Diploma/SI
  • Official Academic transcripts
  • Teacher Registration certificate/evidence of application for registration.
  • KRA PIN certificate
  • Bank Plate
  • Duly filled pay point particulars form
  • Latest medical report (G.P 69 Form) from a recognized hospital
