31 coronavirus cases confirmed in Kenya as 3 more test positive

Kenya confirms three more cases of coronavirus bringing the total number to 31. Of the three new confirmed cases, two are from Kilifi county, while one is from Nairobi County.

Speaking during the daily press briefing outside Afya House, Dr. Mercy Mwangangi, Health CAS said the 31 confirmed coronavirus cases are spread out in Nairobi, Mombasa, Kilifi, Kwale and Kajiado counties.

“The 31 confirmed coronavirus cases are spread out in Nairobi, Mombasa, Kilifi, Kwale and Kajiado counties. The 3 confirmed cases are Kenyan females aged between 30-61 years. They are close contacts of previously confirmed cases”, said Health CAS, Dr. Mercy Mwangangi.

Dr. Mercy Mwangangi added that the government has traced 1029 close contacts. 123 out of these have been discharged after a 14-day follow up period. 18 individuals are admitted at Mbagathi awaiting tests.

She also indicated that the government is having consultations on how to handle Kilifi county and other emerging hotspots.

Furthermore, the Health CAS, noted that a total of 2000 people who came into the country since Monday have been put mandatory self-quarantine awaiting testing.

“There are more than 2000 people who came into the country since Monday and are in mandatory self-quarantine. All shall be tested in due time”, asserted Dr. Mwangangi.
