Education CS Machogu Reveals KCSE 2023 Results Release Date

Kenya’s Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu has disclosed the release schedule for the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Examination (KCSE) results.

He stated that the results are expected to be made public during the second week of January 2023.

Additionally, Machogu mentioned that the process of compiling, verifying, and validating the scores is currently underway.

The KCSE exam marking started on 27th November and ended on 13th December 2023.

The marking of the 2023 KCSE exams happened in the following marking centres;
1) Starehe Girls Centre
2) Kiambu High School
3) Machakos Girls
4) Machakos TTC
5) Alliance Girls
6) Lang’ata High School
7) Thika High School
8) Limuru Girls
9) Nairobi School
10) Mangu High
11) State House Girls
12) Sunshine School
14) Moi Forces Academy Nairobi

Due to glitches in the transmission of the KCPE results, the upcoming KCSE results for 2023 will not be accessible through Short Messaging Service (SMS). Instead, the results will be accessible via the Kenya Education Management Information System (KEMIS) portal, a platform unveiled by CS Machogu for this purpose.

Parents and candidates are required to visit the KEMIS website, where they can input the KCSE names and index numbers to retrieve the results. This marks a departure from the traditional SMS-based result retrieval due to the challenges faced during KCPE result transmission.

This year’s KCSE examination saw a total of 903,260 candidates participating. The examination process commenced with projects, which spanned from January to July 2023. Subsequently, the oral, practical, and theory papers were administered from October 23rd to November 24th, 2023, all conducted within designated examination centers.

For the KCSE projects, the responsible authorities included Centre Managers, Subject teachers, Directors of Education, and Knec officials. The administration of oral, practical, and theory papers involved a broader team comprising Centre Managers, Supervisors, Invigilators, Quality Assurance Officers, Directors of Education, and Knec officials.

In light of the challenges faced during the KCPE results transmission, the shift to the KEMIS portal aims to provide a more reliable and efficient means for parents and candidates to access the 2023 KCSE results.
